Each day we must surrender our will for our lives, in exchange for what God wills for our lives. And believe me, it is far greater than our minds can imagine.
I’ve tried it my way and things always ended badly. I always found myself on the wrong side of the fence.
So many times, I find myself looking to these things that seem to be working well. I began to think to myself: “Wow look at God.” Although this may be full of truth, I am realizing that I shouldn’t allow these temporal things that God is blessing me with to become an idol.
“And if I announce that I will plant and build up a certain nation or kingdom, but then that nation turns to evil and refuses to obey me, I will not bless it as I said I would.” (Jeremiah 18:9-10 NLT)
It’s so easy to look to these things and begin to place our hopes in them; instead, God wants us to trust in His name. These mere temporal things won’t be worth anything years down the line. In fact, if we keep our hopes and wishes for them; they may become the beginning of our downward spiral away from God.
“But my people are not so reliable, for they have deserted me; they burn incense of worthless idols. They have stumbled off the ancient highways and walk in muddy waters.” (Jeremiah 18:15 NLT)
Does your style, likes, wealth, or fame mean that much to you? Would you trade them in for heaven? Think about that…
If you are like many of the individuals on this journey, we’ve already sacrificed so much. Personally, I know I have already sacrificed a lot. And, I don’t want one mistake to overtake my entire life. I don’t want to be out in the wilderness, aimlessly running to and fro, because I can’t seem to pass a particular test.
And, if God can’t trust you with this simple test, for this season, then how can He trust you with everything else He is waiting to unveil through you?
We are to look at these things as tools that allows God to flow through, and give us provision to complete His will for our life. It is only in His will that we are able to do so.
So if God wants to strip me bare of everything that is becoming my idol (it may hurt, at first), but I would rather that, then to die a slow death in the wilderness.
Rather it’s person or thing, I am learning to not stand in the way when God is trying to move them out my life, whatever it may be. I don’t want this temporal thing to stand in the way of me reaching my destiny.
It takes humbling ourselves to allow God to open the valves of our heart.
Whatever you do, don’t let yourself become arrogant in the works God has promised (believing it’s your doing); because, ultimately, it is God’s hands that will produce it. Yes, we can create things; but only in the work of God’s hands, His glory shines through, to reach a magnitude of people connected to you.
Don’t let your pride make you useless. Don’t let your pride separate you from God. And, don’t allow your mouth to spew out useless empty words.
Lastly, don’t let your life succumb to useless and empty works.
